Survivability: Naturally transparent to storm waves.

Efficiency: 5x Energy output per ton of device.

Competitive: Low capital & operation cost, high average output.

Grid Balancing: Key enabler for the transition to 100% renewables by natural grid balancing.

HiWave-5

The oceans represent the world’s largest untapped source of renewable energy and by 2050 ocean energy could provide 10% of Europe’s current electricity needs.

HIWAVE-5 is a Research & Technological Development Project of a full-scale Wave Energy Conversion System, installed at the coast of Aguçadoura, Póvoa do Varzim, in Portugal.

Based on a structured 5-stage product verification program, the HIWAVE-5 will cover the last two stages (4 and 5) that it will allow the achievement of a TRL 8 (Technology Readiness Level).
